Membership categories

As you progress through the stages of training, there is a path for you.

 
 
 

Professional

(18 years and over) 

  • Teachers with a degree/diploma in music from a recognised tertiary institution that includes music related pedagogical training.
  • Teachers of music without formal qualifications with at least five years experience with documented results, evidence of ongoing professional development, and employment references.
  • Teachers of music who has completed a course/s accepted by the QMTA Council for Accreditation.

Associate

(18 years and over) 

  • Teachers who have completed a degree/diploma in music from a recognised tertiary institution that does not contain music related pedagogical training.
  • Teachers of music in the process of accumulating at least five years experience with documented results, and who is in the process of working towards Professional Membership.

CONTEMPORARY

  • Teacher with a degree/diploma/certificate in contemporary music
  • Teacher of contemporary/jazz/popular music at a tertiary institution (e.g.Tafe, Conservatoria or university etc)
  • Teacher of music without formal qualification wiht at least five years experience with documented results, evidence of ongoing professional development, and employment references.
  • Teachers of contemporary music who has completed a course/s accepted by the QMTA Council for Accreditation

Student

(16 years and over)

  • Student of music in the process of obtaining a degree/diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, and who is in the process working towards Professional Membership.

INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIBER

This category is for subscriptions to the QMTA Journal, Bravura.  The journal contains association, branch and regional news, information about professional development, upcoming events, and recitals.

GROUP SUBSCRIBER

For schools, businesses or any other organisation, if that organisation is interested in the objectives of the association. A Group Subscriber will receive a copy of the association journal.

Please note

  • Fees due each 1st Jan each year
  • Pro-rata fees apply when joining during the year.
  • The journal is in either digital or print format. For members, a small fee also applies for the print journal.
  • Performance certificates alone are not sufficient for Professional Membership.
