Lois Beel

Specialty: Piano and singing

Lois taught senior piano, singing and theory and has taught at a number of schools, setting up preparatory to senior music groups. She was a music director for a number of musical societies and also a teacher of voice at Charles Sturt University, Murray Conservatorium. She has been a music director at a number of Anglican churches on the Gold Coast and set up junior choirs to work with the seniors. Many commenced their musical training. She will be of assistance to young teachers, and able to encourage them to achieve their goals.

Antonia Breen

Specialty: All exam grades to 8 in both singing (contemporary, classical, leisure syllabus, musical theatre) and drama for AMEB and Trinity.

Antonia was a professional performer for 30 years in theatre and singing. She has worked in Australia, Scotland and England studying in those places, including New Orleans. She teaches professionals and amateurs and works between All Hallows’ school and her busy private practice at Belmont. She teaches children and adults.

Lyn Carr

Speciality: Piano and voice

A past President of QMTA, former Mentor for Griffith University, Adjudicator, Lyn taught piano from Beginner to Diploma.  Student backgrounds ranged from gifted to those with learning disabilities.  Specializing in Exam and Competition preparation, and learning disability research.

Lyn has performed professionally in Opera and Music Theatre here and abroad, musically directed 34 Music Theatre productions, and privately taught healthy and holistic Vocal technique, encouraging development of stylistic and musical interpretation.

She now enjoys sharing her love of music, piano and voice teaching skills, resources and experiences with young teachers.

Mark Hooper

Specialty: Absolute beginners, the development of a Teacher’s own playing and preparation for Associate and Licentiate exams.

Mark studied piano at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Royal College of Music, London and The Banff Centre, Canada. He performed his Wigmore Hall debut recital in 1985 and is still performing in Australia and England. His work, while a student, as a Yamaha Junior Music teacher projected him on a path of researching the teaching of beginners.A Dalcroze Diploma followed and a thriving teaching practice alongside his performing career. In Oxford, Uk, where he lived for 24 years Mark was regularly a ‘Mentor’ to local piano teachers there, while he was also teaching piano at Oxford University.Mark loves both teaching and performing.

Brenda Hunting

Specialty: Piano, specialising in teaching healthy technique, playing related injuries, mentoring AMEB diplomas.

Brenda is a Certified Instructor in the Taubmaan Approach (Golandsky Institute USA). She runs a busy studio on Brisbane’s southside, where she teachers piano, theory and musicianship toi students of all ages and stages. She specialises in teaching healthy technique and working with injured pianists. She particularly enjoys teaching pedagogy and mentoring teachers, passing on the technical and artistic expertise gained during her 40-plus of teaching and playing.

Lynda Irvine

Specialty: All aspects of teaching from the first lesson to A Mus, including innovative ways to use technology. She assists teachers develop short and long term goals for their professional development, studio growth and management.

Lynda has been teaching for over 30 years and has owned private music studios and taught in private schools in Australia and overseas. Lynda believes we live and work in an amazing age where we can integrate new teaching approaches and technology with the comprehensive traditional pedagogy that has made being a music teacher such a joyful career choice. She enjoys giving guidance and support to new and returning teachers so they can explore and improve their own teaching style and ideas and develop a career and business doing something they love.

Inna Kogan

A long term MTAQ member, Inna runs a successful music school in Kenmore. She is passionate about promoting music education for young Australians. Inna is a motivational speaker and a mentor to many young teachers. She conducts frequent master classes and  had  adjudicated many  Eisteddfods, including Brisbane, Gold Coast & Toowoomba.She had also developed her own “Accelerated Learning” method in which she explores musical abilities of young students, striving to bring each one to their full potential.

Siu Dea Law

Specialty: Musicianship from higher grades to diplomas level

Sui Dea  was born in Hong Kong,migrated to New Zealand at a young age, where she received the greater part of her early musical training. A Bachelor of Music (Hons) performance graduate from the University of Auckland, she then pursued her post-graduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre in Hannover, Germany, gaining both performance and chamber music diplomas. Teaching, accompanying and performing followed in subsequent years in Germany and Hong Kong. Between 2012 and2017 Siu Dea lived and obtained a music therapy diploma from Verona Conservatorio in Italy where she obtained a music therapy diploma from the Conservatorio Dall’ Abaco in Verona.

Kara Lentfer

Kara studied a Bachelor of contemporary music in keyboard performance at Southern Cross University, Lismore and a Post-Graduate Diploma of music in vocal performance at The Australian Institute of Music, Sydney. She has had a career as a performing and recording artist since 2005. She started teaching beginners music, while a student in 1998. She continues to record and release her compositions as an independent singer/songwriter alongside a thriving teaching practice and performing career. Therese Milanovic

Specialty: Mentoring teachers in training in the Taubman Approach to piano technique, and more generally training teachers to promote coordinate technique to avoid injury and develop healthy, high-level playing.

Dr Therese Milanovic is in demand as both performer and pedagogue. She is Master Faculty with the Golandsky Institute (USA), and attracts pianists from across Australia and internationally to learn the Taubman Approach. She has performed and toured nationally and internationally with Topology.

Deanne Scott

From 1990 to now Deanne has been a private piano teacher. In 1990 she began pedagogy and piano with Del McIntosh. She completed her CTMusA in 2005. In 2013 she commenced lessons Brenda Hunting, focusing on the Taubman Approach and pedagogy. In 2016, she completed her  ATMusA in 2016. Helen Worthington
