Sunshine Coast

Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Teacher Group

We are a group of music teachers on the Sunshine Coast who enjoy spending time with like-minded musicians. We encourage and support each other on our musical journeys, as well as share teaching ideas and stories.

Our scheduled workshops are on topics chosen as a group and, whenever possible, we have guest speakers who are specialists in their field. There is no cost and all are encouraged to attend.

We invite teachers of all musical instruments, from Caloundra, Melany, Maroochydore, Coolum, Eumundi, Noosa, or anywhere in between, to join our musical community. Whether you can attend in person, or virtually, we would love to get to know you. As we span from Bribie Island to Harvey Bay, know that distance is not an obstacle.

We have one planned meeting a year, Our AGM, and four workshops.

Workshops: 

These are held in Equity Works at the Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore. Doors open at 9:15 for a 9:30 start. We have moved to a new day for 2026, Wednesday mornings. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you have any ideas for future Workshops, please email them to us at scqmta@gmail.com. We’re always looking for new ideas.

Recitals:

All QMTA Sunshine Coast teachers are welcome to sign their students up to perform. Everyone will receive an email reminder the first week of May and November with details, including those required for programs. The cost is $15.00 for each performer. Family and friends attend at no cost. All are welcome.

Recital Dates:

  • Sunday, May 24th , 2026 @ 2:00 p.m.

  • November 29th, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m.

Coffee Chat Sessions:

These are the same date as our workshops and will be held at Cafe 63  after our workshops. They will start at between10:30 and 11:00 depending on what time the workshops end. All QMTA members are more than welcome to attend
