QVC Festival Launch 2022

The Queensland Vocal Competition Festival 20th Anniversary began its celebrations with a special one-off Launch on Friday 3 June at Lisa Lockland-Bell’s Performance Studio, Loganholme.

The masterclass showcased two QVC Festival Open entrant singers, Maria Woolford and Ben Underwood.

Ben and Maria say beautifully, and we are grateful to them both for having joined us and participated. Maria sang "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" by Saint-Saëns and Ben, “The Estuary” by Michael Head.

Judges Gregory Massingham, Brett Holland and Lisa Lockland-Bell gave their support and expert guidance to the young singers.

At the end of the masterclass the festival officially commenced with the cutting of a ribbon by honoured guest, internationally renowned opera singer Lisa Gasteen AO. Lisa opened the event alongside festival Convenor Marina Poša, and QMTA President Yolanda Frylink.

The masterclass and launch was a wonderful celebration to express our communities love of classical singing which is so vibrant amongst teachers and their students.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported the Launch. We offer a special thank you to Lisa Lockland-Bell and her Performance Studios. The studios provided a lovely atmosphere and we greatly appreciate her support.
